Typically I send out a DVD containing course materials, rather than simply post the materials online. I do so for the following reasons:
- Bandwidth. Included on the DVDs are many examples of student work (in the form of movies), as well as "how-to" videos, which require a broadband connection to view. This works for larger communities, but not so well for smaller communities.
- Youtube. Many of the resources that are online are on YouTube, which some teachers have difficulty accessing.
- Book access. You will be using my book, Digital Storytelling in the Classroom, as your text. I provide it to you free in the form of the last PDF version that went to the printers. I don't like to post this on the Internet, where anyone can download it. If you are interested in getting a copy in book form you can purchase it online.
If you do need a DVD, then please send me your mailing address so we can send you a DVD. Also, I am happy to send you my book as an attached file.
In the meantime, listed below are links to all of the "non-movie" files that are included on the DVD so that you can get started.
First, download the syllabus. This will step you through the course, and ask you look at other files, many of which are downloadable below as PDF files:

The course is scheduled but self-paced
In an attempt to give you the best of both worlds, I provide a schedule for you to follow for completing and posting work. If you follow it, you will always know where you stand in relation to the amount of work required in the course. Also, you are guaranteed to finish the course by December 10th.
However, if you don't follow the schedule there are no penalties. Thus, the course is "scheduled but self-paced" in order to provide structure and flexibility at the same time. How scheduled you want to be is up to you. I do not like to give incompletes, and greatly appreciate it if you can finish all your work by the end of semester (December 10th), regardless of how you schedule your time.
